Dress to Kill Boutique's - Blogger's Review

Last night I was invited to attend Dress to Kill Boutique's Bloggers Review. Dress to Kill Boutique is located on a 188 NW 36 Street, Miami, FL 33127.  At this event they offered discounts for Black Friday and Cult Nails gave away free manicures. The one thing that I really admire about this store is that they offer plus size clothing. Thank you for not forgetting us plus size divas. We love youuuuu!

View the setup of the store, it has a certain fashionista ambience. The kind that inspires you to shop and dance simultaneously, if you know what I mean lol.

Does anyone love purses *raises hands*. My mother tells me that my god mother gave me my first purse when I was two years old and I never put it down. I am QUITE sure that my Boaz will appreciate my purse fetish teehee. Check out these clutches they are perfect for the holiday season. If you are going to a holiday party, pair it up with a nice cocktail dress, a blazer and skinny jeans. It is quite the perfect accessory.

Cheeeeese. Below Antonia Louissant, owner of Dress to Kill Boutique and I. Isn't she purtty?!?! In case you didn't know, BLACK GIRLS ROCK!

Check out the goodies they presented the bloggers with last night. Muchas gracias Dress to Kill Boutique!

Bra Bash with Intimacy

Bra Bash with Intimacy

This evening I had the awesome opportunity to host an exclusive bra bash event with Intimacy located at Aventura Mall.

I was very excited about this event considering the fact that I purchase my bras from this store. We all know that finding the right bra is like finding a good hair stylist. It maybe expensive, but it is worth it! The bra stylists at Intimacy are very friendly and are experts at what they do. I would like to give a special shout out to Susuan Luongo, she is the store manager for Intimacy at Aventura Mall, and a very sweet lady.  Intimacy offers over 90 sizes from A to K cup. I really love this store because they show women that the right styles combined with the right fit will provide you with comfort and improve your body image. Sounds like my kind of store!

This evening we had a special guest, Jacquelyn Thompson who is the Southern States Account Executive for Panache, which is one of the Intimacy's original line of bras. This is the style of bra that I wear the most. It keeps the girls in place and upright lol.

My favorite pics from this evening are below. Don't these colors say buy me???!!

Back to School Fashions for Women Who Are Students

This fall you will find many trends to follow. My suggestions for women who are students are boyfriend jeans, skinny ankle jeans, print pants, shirtdresses, cotton blouses and cardigans. You can have so much fun with these pieces and also add some flair to your wardrobe.

Ladies don’t be afraid to add color jeans to your wardrobe, for a fresh and funky look.

Blazers can be paired with any pair of jeans and can turn a day look into a night look as seen below.

Wedges, ballet flats, Tom’s and Sperry’s are my shoe recommendations for women who are students. These shoes are stylish, without trying to look young and are also comfortable and affordable. Select the link below.

A Diva on a Budget - Miss Tina's Fall 2012 Clothing Line

This post is for the diva on a budget, for the young woman who wants to look fashionable and stylish and might not have the finances to afford a Michael Kors dress or a Rachel Roy jumpsuit. I will be the first to admit that I am a diva on a budget #guilty. I love nice items, but it has to be within my budget for me to purchase it.  Tina Knowles, Beyonce's mom has a clothing line named Miss Tina. Sizes range from misses to plus size. Her clothing can be purchased online at http://www.misstina.com/ and at Walmart. I know that the diva in you is saying that I am not buying clothing from Walmart, what are people going to say about me. Well Ms. Diva I have learned, that it is not where you buy your clothing, but it is the quality of the fabric that matters the most. In my closet you will find some items from Miss Tina. I have washed and worn them and even mixed her pieces with some items from my favorite designer, Michael Kors and they are still in good condition and I also looked fly *wooohoooo*I had to toot my own horn for a second, but I digress lol.

This fall 2012 line of items includes an assortment of prints. Miss Tina's choice of prints is vibrant, funky and edgy, the perfect fit for a diva on a budget. I have taken the liberty of picking out some of my favorite items. If you're not sure how to pair items together don't fret e-mail StylingPurpose@yahoo.com for wardrobe styling inquiries.

                                                         Maxi Dress $20

Blouse $15.95 and uneven hem skirt $15.94

                                                       Wrap Dress $18.94

Low tunic blouse with twist neck and belt $15 and crop pants $16

Feedback is encouraged. Be sure to leave comments and let me know what you think of Miss Tina's 2012 fall line and my blog. Five Summer Pieces to hold onto all year are: blazers, skinny jeans, tights/leggings, jumpers and scarves.

Jumpers can be worn year round, in the summer time with a wedge shoe and in the fall and winter with booties.

Blazers can be paired with skinny jeans, skirts and dresses, which appeal to all seasons.

Denim skinny jeans are great to wear in the summer with an off the shoulder blouse, but is also chic with a denim button up blouse.

Scarves are great with maxi dresses in the summer and they add a sense of flair to any fall, winter and spring look.

Most people associate tights and leggings with summer dresses, but combined with a blazer, makes for a modish fall fashion forward look.

The Move - positioning yourself to receive all that God has for you.

Two of my favorite Scriptures and now mantras states,  "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen... But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:1, 6 KJV)
It is my belief that our successes are predicated on how much we believe God to do or move in our lives.
The question is not can God do it, because in an inkling God can change our situations. The question up for discussion is do we believe that God will do it? Do you???
I consider Styling Purpose to be a gift from God. Now why would God entrust me with such a precious gift, who knows. I'm still trying to figure that part out, but I digress lol. Because of his loving kindness towards me I have given my company back God. In my many conversations with God, I told Him that I am solely dependent on Him. If this is what I am supposed to do, then you will provide for me, open doors that I can't open, because if you don't do it, it cant be done. Period, no buts, no commas, no semi colons. That's my reality! Have you ever been totally depended on someone... It's a scary feeling. To totally put your trust in someone, means that you are fully relying on their strengths and capabilities to fulfill a task or assignment that will ultimately benefit you and most likely not them #ohboy.  We see that many relationships fail because of a lack of trust and communication. For the past year I have learned to totally depend on God. To trust that He has my best interest in mind. It wasn't like I didn't depend on Him before, but I didn't consider Him my entire source. I was depended on resources (people, jobs) to give me what I thought I needed and wanted. These past couple of weeks we have literally traveled across the US during The Move Tour and I have been privileged to see some of God's many wonders and works. I have witnessed small ministries do amazing things.Although Styling Purpose is a small company in number we have been blessed to host three fashion shows, work with some amazing people  as their fashion consultant and go on a national tour with a Christian recording artist as her wardrobe stylist. I only mention our success to convey the fact that God is able to do much only if we are willing to let go, listen, be available and follow.
I do believe that  Styling Purpose is impetus of something much bigger for me. I'm moving forward and positioning myself to receive all that God has for me. How about you???

Styling Without Fear

Styling Purpose has the excellent opportunity to travel on tour with Christian recording artist Giel as her wardrobe stylist for The Move Tour. Whoop, whoop *does the thank you Jesus dance*. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I couldn't afford to miss. As Giel's wardrobe stylist I am responsible for her show performance look. This is very important and should be carefully orchestrated, because her clothing should not distract the audience from her ministry. The mission of Styling Purpose is to create a style that is effortless, irreplaceable and modish individually customized for each customer. Understanding my clients brand and personality will allow me to achieve this goal. I am blessed and humbled to be apart of #TeamGiel. God will open doors that no one else can open. As I get closer to His presence He reveals more of who He is to me that no one else can replace. I expect great things from God and I attempting to do great things for God. Faith that led to Fashion

One year ago, God gave me a gift and that was Styling Purpose. Today, marks the genesis of my company and I am grateful that He trusted me with such a huge blessing. Styling Purpose is a personal wardrobe styling and shopping company; who's mission is to create a style that is effortless, irreplaceable and modish for each customer.

This past year I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people. These clients have trusted me to personally style them and I would like to publicly thank you for investing in me. I look forward to styling you in the future. I would also like to thank my family and friends for supporting me. Go team Styling Purpose, love you long time :)

For me, fashion is a way of life. It is so cool that it can be whatever you need it to be. It is my friend and I am thankful for this relationship. Personally, my style is very versatile. I see everything in color. I always want to add a pop of color to a look, but that works for me. Some days my look is simple, but then I will wear one statement piece accessory to give me that extra spice. Other days my looks are very vibrant and my accessories are toned down so that it won't take away from my ensemble. The key to this fashion thing is to find what works for YOU and move forward from there. Don't be afraid to try new things, new trends. Mix and match colors. Most importantly, be true to yourself.

I don't understand everything that God has for me, but I do hold onto His word that says, " But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6) You may be at work or at home reading this blog and there are some things that you are praying to God for; You must believe His word and that He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or think. There is an unlimited possibility when you fully trust and believe in Him. Sometimes God is just waiting on our faith to move on our behalf.

Styling Purpose will be celebrating one year of fashion and faith on June 2, 2012 with "Summer Reign" at the Haitian Heritage Museum 4141 NE 2nd Avenue #105C Miami, Florida 33137. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and can be purchased at Kreative Kreations 1814 NW 183rd Street Miami Gardens. You don't want to miss this event.

Beauty Within

I love fashion simply because it reminds me a lot of God. You don't know how He is going to work things out, but when it comes together it is simply remarkable. As stylists (hair, makeup or wardrobe) we have images and ideas that we create in our heads and we're unsure how the look will come together, but once our ideas are manifested there is nothing that can replace that feeling. It is an encounter with God!

I tell my clients all the time, to trust me. I would never send anyone out looking less than their best. Not only are you representing yourself, my brand, but most importantly God. He is my boss and He is who I answer to.

Everything that we do (thoughts, actions) are controlled by our mind. The mind is the center of our decision making. As a stylist it is my goal to capture what you feel about yourself and add flair to what is already beautiful. It doesn't matter if your rocking the latest trend, if you have low self-esteem and are harboring bitterness in your heart.  God views us all as beautiful and unique. We are all made in his image, which is why fashion reaches all sizes, ages, and nationalities.

Not only am I a wardrobe stylist, but I am an encourager, motivator and an image builder. Follow my eye on fashion - it's 20/20 @StylingPurpose.

2012 - The Year of Order

Today I am reminded of the 22 courageous and vigilant women who founded Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. a sorority in which I am affiliated with. Today we celebrate 99 years of service, sisterhood and scholarship. As a Delta, but most importantly a child of God I was empowered to start my own business called Styling Purpose in May 2011. This is a wardrobe styling and personal shopping company.  Shortly after starting my business I was laid off my job as a General Ledger Accountant for a company I had been with for a couple of years. Tears were shed, fear and doubt appeared, but purpose was knocking at my door. I didn't know then, but my MBA from Florida A&M University would definitely come in handy. When you follow God's purpose for your life, a lot of things don't make sense.

I had my first fashion show October 1, 2011 at St. Thomas University, some of you reading this post were in attendance and I thank you again for your support. It was through the support of my family and friends that this event was successful. My mom sent e-mails to her close friends, my best friend Victoria hit up everyone in her phone book, my friend April came from Orlando, one of my close friends Dre yielded his expertise at planning and promotions, my friends on fb liked posts and my followers on twitter retweeted my tweets about the fashion show and this was all to support the vision that God had given me. My village of support is so awesome and I love them so much. Know that everyone is not emotionally or spiritually built to go where God is leading you.I have learned through this process that when something is yours, everyone is not going to be supportive, not because they are haters, but solely because it is the vision that God has given to you and He will equip you with the resources that you need in order to fulfill the task at hand.

Everyone's purpose and journey is different. My Bishop told us this past week that God tests those people who He uses. So the pain and sometimes lack of funds...lool is apart of the process. God has connected me with some wonderful people in the fashion industry: Desiree Fleming of Voluptuous You, Racquel of Queen B Accessories and Roots Remix Designs, Sunnie Morrison of First Class Productions to name a few. Styling Purpose will host our second fashion show and mixer, "Fashion - A Love Affair" on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 6-8pm at New Birth Enterprise 8400 N.E. 2nd Avenue Miami, FL 33148. Vendor and sponsorship are welcomed. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door and they will be available next week for purchase. For more information contact me at StylingPurpose@yahoo.com.

I ask that you follow me along my journey of PURPOSE. Until the next post! Hebrews 11:6
