Slowly Surely...Love Thyself
One of my favorite Jill Scott songs is Slowly Surely. The
lyrics read “Slowly Surely I’ll walk away from that old desperate and tainted
love. Caught up in the maze of the love. The crazy, craze of love. Thought it
was good. Thought it was real, thought it was but it wasn’t love. I just don’t
know where I should go. So, Slowly surely I’ll walk away from self serving,
undeserving constantly hurting me love.” This song resonates with me, besides
being a fan of Jill Scott (I love you Jill lol), because it describes so may
relationships that I have allowed myself to engage in. Every time I play this
song, I’m like yes Jill, yesss. Egggactly! Walk away LaShannon. Just walk away.
But only, if it was that simple.
This year, I decided that I wanted to live a life pleasing
to God. For me this meant, allowing God to have complete control in every area
of my life, including my relationships. Oh boy! I came to this decision because
I was emotionally tired and frustrated. I was doing everything that a girlfriend
or wife should do, but without the title. Which is equivalent to working and
not getting paid. #nobueno I declared that this year I would not do committed
things and not be in a committed relationship with a mate and that I would
abstain from sex until marriage. I have done the dating thing my way for so many years and I did not receive what I wanted, which was to be in a committed relationship. I know my worth. I know my value. One man in particular, who will remain nameless,
helped me to realize my value and worth and I am grateful that the Lord used
him.
I always wondered and would question God, why didn't it work out with the guys who I met. I thought I did everything right. I had to realize that I love on a gallon level, so I need a mate who will love me in return on a gallon level and not a tablespoon or a pint. That the love that I have to offer him would not be overwhelming, because it will be exactly what he needs. He will appreciate my compassionate, loving and
nurturing spirit. As women we dumb down and hide our brightness and brilliance
to please men who aren’t meant for us any way. #LETTHATGO God is crafting and molding my mate as I pen this blog. I get so excited when I think about him, what we will share and how God will utilize our relationship as a testament of hope, faith and love. #sogeeked
Ladies sometimes we think we can change men, but we can’t. A
close friend of mine once told me that men do what they want to do. If he wants
to speak to you, he will call you and engage in conversation and not just
respond to your text messages. OUCH! If
he wants to see you, he will ask you on a date. And if he doesn't, maybe he's just not interested. This was a very hard pill for me to swallow this past year, but it just made me a better woman. Cheaaa! I
know what I want in a relationship. I know what I will allow. I know what I
bring to a relationship. I will not settle for less than what I deserve. Will
you?
There are six ways you can love yourself. 1. Invest in yourself. 2. Surround yourself with positive people and people who are living the same type of life you are. 3. Declare positive things over your life. 4. Say yes to yourself and say no to anything or person that doesn't encourage you to be your best. 5. Forgive people who have hurt you and let it go. 6. Don't concern yourself with other people's opinion of who you used to be.
I read a quote this past week by Miles Munroe (isn’t he
great?) in his book Maximizing Your Potential, “True Obedience to God is doing
what He says, when He says, the way He says, as long as He says, until He says
“STOP.” Will you obey God today when it comes to your relationships? Will you
trust that He will give you the desires of your heart? Will you allow him to
give you His best, because you are His best and you deserve the best He has to
give? Yesssss, I will!
If that's the case I invite you to attend Love Thyself: Back To Me Women’s
Empowerment Summit this Saturday from 10-5pm at Embassy Suites 1100

I hope to see you there.
Slowly surely… I’ll walk away from constantly hurting me
love…One step at a time. So will you!

Last night I was invited to attend Dress to Kill Boutique's Bloggers Review. Dress to Kill Boutique is located on a 188 NW 36 Street, Miami, FL 33127. At this event they offered discounts for Black Friday and Cult Nails gave away free manicures. The one thing that I really admire about this store is that they offer plus size clothing. View the setup of the store, it has a certain fashionista ambience. The kind that inspires you to shop and dance simultaneously, if you know what I mean lol.

If you are going to a holiday party, pair it up with a nice cocktail dress, a blazer and skinny jeans. It is quite the perfect accessory.

Bra Bash with Intimacy
Bra Bash with Intimacy
This evening I had the awesome opportunity to host an exclusive bra bash event with Intimacy located at Aventura Mall.
I was very excited about this event considering the fact that I purchase my bras from this store. We all know that finding the right bra is like finding a good hair stylist. It maybe expensive, but it is worth it! The bra stylists at Intimacy are very friendly and are experts at what they do. I would like to give a special shout out to Susuan Luongo, she is the store manager for Intimacy at Aventura Mall, and a very sweet lady. Intimacy offers over 90 sizes from A to K cup. I really love this store because they show women that the right styles combined with the right fit will provide you with comfort and improve your body image. Sounds like my kind of store!
This evening we had a special guest, Jacquelyn Thompson who is the Southern States Account Executive for Panache, which is one of the Intimacy's original line of bras. This is the style of bra that I wear the most. It keeps the girls in place and upright lol.
My favorite pics from this evening are below. Don't these colors say buy me???!!

Back to School Fashions for Women Who Are Students
This fall you will find many
trends to follow. My suggestions for women who are students are boyfriend
jeans, skinny ankle jeans, print pants, shirtdresses, cotton blouses and
cardigans. You can have so much fun with these pieces and also add some flair to your wardrobe.
Ladies don’t be afraid to add color jeans to your wardrobe, for a fresh and
funky look.
Blazers can be paired with any pair of jeans and can turn a day
look into a night look as seen below.
Wedges, ballet flats, Tom’s and Sperry’s are my shoe
recommendations for women who are students. These shoes are stylish, without
trying to look young and are also comfortable and affordable. Select the link below.

A Diva on a Budget - Miss Tina's Fall 2012 Clothing Line
This post is for the diva on a budget, for the young woman who wants to look fashionable and stylish and might not have the finances to afford a Michael Kors dress or a Rachel Roy jumpsuit. I will be the first to admit that I am a diva on a budget #guilty. I love nice items, but it has to be within my budget for me to purchase it. Tina Knowles, Beyonce's mom has a clothing line named Miss Tina. Sizes range from misses to plus size. Her clothing can be purchased online at http://www.misstina.com/ and at Walmart. I know that the diva in you is saying that I am not buying clothing from Walmart, what are people going to say about me. Well Ms. Diva I have learned, that it is not where you buy your clothing, but it is the quality of the fabric that matters the most. In my closet you will find some items from Miss Tina. I have washed and worn them and even mixed her pieces with some items from my favorite designer, Michael Kors and they are still in good condition and I also looked fly *wooohoooo*I had to toot my own horn for a second, but I digress lol.
This fall 2012 line of items includes an assortment of prints. Miss Tina's choice of prints is vibrant, funky and edgy, the perfect fit for a diva on a budget. I have taken the liberty of picking out some of my favorite items. If you're not sure how to pair items together don't fret e-mail StylingPurpose@yahoo.com for wardrobe styling inquiries.
Maxi Dress $20

Low tunic blouse with twist neck and belt $15 and crop pants $16

Five Summer Pieces to hold onto all year are: blazers, skinny jeans, tights/leggings, jumpers and scarves.
Jumpers can be worn year round, in the summer time with a wedge shoe and in the fall and winter with booties.
Blazers can be paired with skinny
jeans, skirts and dresses, which appeal to all seasons.
Denim skinny jeans are
great to wear in the summer with an off the shoulder blouse, but is also chic
with a denim button up blouse.
Scarves are great with maxi
dresses in the summer and they add a sense of flair to any fall, winter and
spring look.
Most people associate tights and leggings with summer dresses, but combined with a blazer, makes for a modish fall fashion forward look.
